Suzanne Pringle began her career in law as a legal assistant before making the leap and becoming a lawyer in family law in 1983. She then founded her own law firm, which she has been at the head of since 1988. In 2014, Suzanne also became an accredited mediator in family law. Ms. Pringle has given many talks, specifically to groups of women, in order to inform them of the legal and financial consequences of their life choices.
Convinced that settling family-related matters out of court is preferable, since 1990 Ms. Pringle has been participating in a pilot project offering seminars about out-of-court settlement at the Superior Court of Quebec and the Court of Appeal of Quebec. She also publicly fights for the reform of family law.
Building on the example set by her mother, Ms. Pringle’s family values are deep-rooted and her social and community engagement is ongoing. She is involved with the young and not-so-young in her profession by participating in mentoring activities, in addition to sharing her expertise and advice on different media platforms. Incidentally, she uses these forums to talk about the social causes that she advocates for. In addition, she raises awareness among lawyers and businesswomen of the options they have in their professional careers.
Ms. Pringle has often done work pro bono. Her visibility in legal circles and in the media enriches and contributes to the evolution of law in our society. She has become the spokesperson for and protector of those who are considered vulnerable under the law, all while managing to give a voice to those who have none.
