Elizabeth-Ann Doyle is the co-founder, CEO, and artistic director of MU, the organization that has transformed Montreal into an open-air art museum. A visionary in cultural democratization, she has been leading for over sixteen years a movement that makes art accessible to everyone, at the heart of neighbourhoods, schools, and community spaces.
Under her leadership, more than 200 large-scale murals and over 500 community murals have been created across the city. MU has supported more than 200 artists, generating over $3.5 million in fees, collaborated with over 100 community groups, enhanced 30 public housing buildings and around a hundred schools, while allowing 10,000 young people to explore mural art and public space. This work has helped shape a strong, distinctly Montreal visual identity and made art a place of belonging and collective dialogue.
Elizabeth-Ann Doyle is a builder of beauty, connection, and meaning. Through her work, the walls of Montreal speak, tell stories, bring people together, and celebrate our shared histories.
Before MU, Elizabeth-Ann worked for more than 30 years in the cultural sector, including at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Place des Arts, and Cirque du Soleil, where she held roles in creation, artistic direction, communications, and production. These experiences shaped her sensitive perspective, collaborative approach, and deep commitment to bringing art to life in the city.
