Claire Warmels believes firmly in the power of young people to build a future that they desire. As the leader of the Génération Cllimat Montreal – a project initiated by the YMCA Quebec – Claire works to amplify the diverse voices and the interests of young Montrealers at summits on environment such as the COP of the UNFCCC. In this capacity, Claire co-launched and now co-leads a local coalition campaign for greater youth representation in provincial environment decision-making processes. After the coalition secured a unanimous vote in favor of examining the creation of a permanent youth advisory committee on climate at the National Assembly of Quebec, Claire obtained two additional public commitments from the minister of Environment to realize the vision of young Quebecers for constructive intergenerational dialogue on climate. She is optimistic about the government’s ability to deliver on its promise.
